“The HfBK students Marie Hartung and Soojin Oh have designed an opulent stage set, immersing a cozy living environment behind the colorful curtain into
diffusely foggy light. The costumes sway in Woodstock style, with wide dresses, bell-bottom pants, and headbands providing colorful accents in this enchanted forest fallen into delirium. This actually complements Britten‘s music quite well, which, with its psychedelic chirping, also seeks ironic breaks from Italian opera, occasionally strikes a certain fairy-like lightness - and in between, grows into a shimmering, almost cinematic accompanying music.“
